I have something similar to that.. Can't remember the brand. Got it for my goldens, didn't like it. Maybe I didn't use it correctly.

While I was at the dog show this spring a man used one on his schnauzer. His dog had a rolled/stripped coat.... can't remember. He was using it, I think it is for the under coat. Correct me members if I'm wrong. I haven't used one. Do you want to strip/roll your dogs coat. If so I can give you a small list of tools I use.

I do want to strip or roll Bruschi. I just much prefer the look of a stripped coat over a clipped coat. I would appreciate any tips, advice, or any info you can give me. Thanks

Also, how about the Love2Pet Grooming Brush? I have heard good things about it also.

Hi Cameron. Hope I can help you. There is also a member here named MichelleZ who has done a beautiful job doing her dog. I am sure she can be of help also.  First take a read of this site and read it over and over. http://britmorschauzer.com/rolling.html  It will take several reads to understand. They talk about the coat king and tools needed. I must confess didn't use a coat king, I used a furmenator. I bought it online Ebay for 10.00 from Hong Kong and it is the real thing. You need a tool to remove the undercoat, which is  fluffy. This helps the coarse coat come through. If you don't remove this undercoat the undercoat takes over therefore giving you the nice soft coat. I started Jasmines coat in April and saw the results in June. Now I took it very slow, and didn't remove a lot of the top coat at once. She never had any bear spots. I would take the hair between my fingers and just remove the longest hairs.  I also bought a Michaelangelo sculpting stone which can be used instead of your fingers. It depended what was handy at the time. You see I decided to take it slow so Jasmine would get used to it. I also have a classic stripping knife, with the red  handle it is for fine work. Meaning around face/neck/butt area. I must confess didn't use the knife much until her coat came in. Now I go over it when it needs work and remove the dead hairs.  Jasmines hair grows slow...I remove hairs once a week. Go over the body and remove the undercoat once a week. It all depends remember this is your dog, and  you can do it your way. I had a mentor that encouraged me to it my way. Jasmine is a pet so don't have to worry about getting it perfect for inspection of a judge. I am very happy with the results. I started this because Jasmine has a very fine coat... now she looks better . My other girl is still clipped, because I really wasn't aware of any forums to help me along.

Now I know this is still probably very overwhelming to you, and I know you will have some question. So fire a way Shocked Grin

Not familiar with a love2pet grooming brush perhaps it is similar to a furminator. If it removes undercoat go for it.

I just checked out the love2pet grooming brush. The one end is actually the same as the furmenator (small teeth). The end with a rake would be of no use to you. Remember if you choose a furmenator etc make sure it is a size for small dogs. If you look at the site and choose a coat king they tell you which one to use. By the way a good place to learn how to groom is visit the dog shows. The people are very helpful, and the products reccommended are usually right there at the show. That is where I bought my tools. It is really fun to be around other schnauzer owners. I forgot to ask .... how old is your mini ?

If you wish you may email me using the bottom below my picture.

Thank you very much for all the info. I will definitely take the time to read through that article. I wish I was able to catch a few dog shows, but unfortunately I have not been able to find any near me in Maine. Also, I doubt it makes much difference, but I should have mentioned that Bruschi is a standard. Thanks again. Once I have read through the article I'm sure I will have a few more questions.

I have some questions of my own to add to the discussion, since I'm starting to seriously consider rolling Lotte's coat instead of clipping it (I need to do something soon though... she's so scruffy looking right now).

Changing my questions, since I found what I was looking for as far as affordability goes.
- If I pick up something like the Coat King or Furminator, can it be any deshedding/raking tool, or should I be looking for a certain type of such tools? I'm trying to find cheaper alternatives before I go ahead and order one.
-Also, it says not to clip the rolled coat... do you still clip the eyebrows to get the right shape though? (poor wording lol... by clip, I mean with shears)

Edit again:
I'm confused now, because I was reading over the article on stage stripping. Do you still need clippers to do the white areas on a s&p, or can those be pulled too? (I thought I was going to save some money by not having to buy clippers...)
